November 7th- Third month of Chemo

Bill has been feeling so good, we hate that chemo has to begin again.
He began the day with his fourth Bone Marrow Biopsy. He says "No big deal, I'm getting use to the procedure".
Then chemo began. Three hours later the drip was finished and no side effects. He will get a 12 hour break, and the next dosage will begin. This will continue until 8 doses have been given. Each dose is stronger than the one before. He hopes to be finished and come home on Sunday.

While Bill is still feeling good, we took the opportunity to tour the Bone Marrow Transplant wing at Loyola Hospital. The nurses answered our questions and told us about the facility, the head doctor's requirements of his patients and support groups available to us. They do about 100 transplants a year at this facility. Monday we will be meeting with one of the doctors to have more questions answered.

We were blessed today with a surprise visit from Jon and Laura. Jon had work to do in the Chicago area, and Laura came with him. Jon is going to stay in town for the Monday consultation with Loyola's doctors.

Bill has made so many improvements over the past month. We need to pray for continued improvements to his body, and the destruction of the leukemia cells. With a miracle, maybe he won't need a bone marrow transplant.

We all have to live through the "necessary evils of life - chemo being one of them. A friend of mine has a brother-in-law that has had AML. Her advice - be patient! His disease course was very similar, and things are "back to normal"! God works in miraculous ways! With Mom praying, only good things can happen. You know, she has a direct line to the Big Guy!

Love, prayers, and good health!

Great to hear that there are no side effects, so far. What a wonderful treat to see Laura and Jon. Glad Jon will be with you Monday. The more ears, the better.
What did you think of the tour you took? Remember, you don't have to make a decision right now, so, relax!!! Yea, right! Love you guys.

Good news - thanks for keeping us updated. Give Bill a big hug for me, it is OK for old guys to do that. We all hope for the best and know that you guys will do whatever is required and will do a good job of it.

It is great to know that you have the company of Jon and Laura. Keep asking questions and be patient. I know that is not one of the Huber virtues, but courage and determination are and that is not stubbornness.

We are thinking of you often and praying too.

Love,
Paula and Jim

Bill and Nancy,

I know more good days are to come--it just stinks that you have to go through not so great ones like today to get to them!

Bill, I had to laugh when I read that you said you were "getting used to (the bone marrow biopsies)". You are such a down-to-earth and practical person. I love it! A lot of people would feel self-pity at this point of treatment, and your strength of spirit is so inspiring and great to see.

Take care; we're thinking of you as always!

Love,
Janet and John

Bill and Nancy,

As always, prayers are with you. I'm so glad Jon and Laura are with you now. Family is everything. And how wonderful Jon can stay over for Monday's consultation at Loyola. Good luck with that.

Bill and I send all best wishes and loads of prayers.

Good news! As I read this you may be relaxing at home! We will pray--as we have done continuously-that the bone marrow transplant will go smoothly and will look forward to getting you back to as "normal" (?) as you were before all of this started.
Give each other a hug for us!
