April 9th- Going Home

This is one decision I hope you personally never have to make.
But what a blessing that Bill has the mental awareness to make the decision on his own. Bill has decided that he doesn’t want to fight the battle against cancer anymore. We are going home. This was Bill's 7th round of chemotherapy in seven months. He is tired. No more treatments. The doctors and nurses have been very supportive. Arrangements are being made for care at home and hospice will be available when needed.
We might be home on Friday, but that could change. There probably won’t be any news for a few days. We will be busy setting up the house for his homecoming. The family (children and grandchildren) will all be flying or driving in over the next several days.
Our prayers are for comfort and strength for all of us.
And if you are reading this, you are our closest of friends (and family), and I send you my prayer of comfort. I know you hurt too.

Making decisions is always difficult, but Bill has made peace with this one. We love him and support his decision - quality of life is so important. The best medicine for him now is our love, and the prayers of all.

We love you Bill and Nancy. God's will be done.

Making life decisions are not easy.
I know this decision was not an easy one for Bill to make. He is teaching us all so much about life's courage, determination, and strength.

May we all continue to pray for his comfort and peace.

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear.
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

Oh what peace we often forfeit,
And oh what needless pain we bear.
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who in all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

I think Bill made the best decision for himself and for God. HE is making HIS own arrangements for Bill's arrival as you are preparing your home for his last days of suffering, treatment and pain.

You and your whole family will cherist this time to love and care for him and be with him as he runs into the arms of God.

I know this is incredibly hard. My husband died in a car accident at the age of 31 - that was a shock and I just wish I had the opportunity to tell him goodbye.

My prayers continue for all of you - God will give you more strength than you ever thought possible.

God Bless you Both,
Dori in AZ

What a blessing for me to have shared a tiny bit of your time in London, being a substitute ringer and also singing "The Messiah" with the Community Chorus. I don't think I ever saw either of you without a smile. I know this is a more difficult time than I can imagine, but my prayer is that all the Hubers will take this time for the joy of your family as well as grieving. After all, there would be no sorrow had there not been joy. I am praying for all of you every day.

We all have to make tough decisions at times on our in life, and Bill you have made the toughest one any of us could have to make. The strength, courage, and determination you and Nancy have show through this ordeal has been amazing and inspirational. It is obvious from the postings on this blog that you have both made a positive impact on the lives of many people, and when all is said and done that is the best thing any of us can do in our lives. Nancy and I are grateful that we had the chance to spend some quality time with you this past summer and we have thought about you daily since. We wish you peace and comfort in the coming days as you prepare for your journey to a better place. May God bless you and all of those close to you.

Dear Bill, Nancy and family,

We are with you in our thoughts and prayers. Our memories of you are very special - happy times with lots of laughter, talk of church choir and organ pieces by Bach and Handel, keeping Shannon and Christen while I served in the CUMC music world, trombone, percussion, flute and band concerts. All wonderful moments to treasure and hold close - just as we are holding you close in our hearts, now. God bless you and grant you peace.
