October 18- Day 1 and Counting

Today is Thursday October 18 and my first day to be truly at home. For all of those who wish to know what its like to have a second hole in your head, I would like to describe it in great detail, but as they say, ”I have a hole in my head, but that’s beside the point.”

I feel much better than when I was discharged two weeks ago. At that time, things seemed to be moving in slow motion. Since Monday’s surgery I feel much more alert and aware of my surroundings. However, I still need a nap every now and then. With the medication regimen they have set up for me, hopefully I will be able to settle into a routine in the next few weeks and build some strength.

Thank you so much for your blog comments. They have lifted my spirits and have given me a push forward to face the new day.

Warmest Regards,
Bill

Yea, Bill. So great to hear directly from you. There's nothing like being at home. David and I are so glad you are not foggy anymore. I apologize ahead of time for all the remarks David will be sending your way regarding your hole in your head. I can't do anything with him. Do what the doctors tell you to do and behave yourself. Tell Nancy to take naps when you do. Love to you both.

Bill,
We're glad that you've found yourself. Maybe this weekend, you'll really be able to appreciate football season. It's still our favorite time of year.
Love,
Jim and Kathy

A full day of rest... working on the computer... you'd better be careful or Mom will have you bagging leaves next!

Keep up the healing.

GO VOLS!!!

So glad you're home. As a nurse, we don't love to torture you in the hospital, the doctors do. Home probably hasn't felt so good. Keep getting stronger each day and rest often. Don't work too hard, resting is the best medicine.

Love you,
E.B.

I was so good to "hear" from you! Mom always is so relieved after she hears your voice. Must be one of those Mom things! There are advantages to being in a fog - but none take the place of knowing where you are! We know these things because we have driven on Route 88 with our heads out the window when the Newell Chem. Plant was doing its thing! Ah, the good old days! Here's to making more of them.

Take those naps, eat those desserts, and before you know it, you will be complaining that you want to lose some of that weight - that will be a good thing!

Love, prayers, and good health!
Gail, Marty, and Mom

Remember the phrase - "I need that like I need another hole in my head". Well, you now have one. If you are not foggy anymore maybe all of us who are over 50 should get a hole in our head and they will help clear us up. Glad you are back my friend. Why does Becky always feel that she has to apologize for me? GO VOLS !!!!!

Dad,
My heart got a little lighter this morning when I saw your post. So glad to see you're feeling good enough to blog!
By the time we make our next visit, I hope that Maggie is out of her newest phase - screaming at the top of her lungs. Like her Mommy, she just loves the sound of her own voice! You'd never get any sleep with all her squealing!
But her best new thing is giving kisses! They're sloppy, but sweet! She can't wait to give you one soon (and Nana, too, of course).
Love - Janine, Don & Maggie

Bill - Thanks for this great bit of writing. You have been missed at the various synfuel meetings. Ron Kanouse is an avid blog reader and routinely asks for updates. Two weeks ago, when things were "moving in slow motion", did you think about your golf swing? The folks here at AIG (especially Al Medioli and Greg Ruffa) wish you well. Will we be able to call and actually speak with you soon? Stay strong and eat your vegetables.

Best,

Carl Peterson

Wow, Bill, it was GREAT to hear from you! I eagerly read your blog regularly to check on your progress, and it was a real treat to see you had written in. I have to laugh when I read some of your friends' comments--you have some crazy friends! And they say that birds of a feather flock together....

Have a great day; hope you're able to do more things that you enjoy while you're at home.

Take care,
Janet and John

Great to see you are back at the computer. I would heed Jon's advise as Nancy will have back to yard work soon. However, I'm sure you would love to be raking leaves. Oh, yeah naps are a good thing. Keep up the good work. Our prayers are with you and your family always.

Well, your youngest child is always a day late. It has nothing to do with your 9 1/2 pound grandson with an extra-healthy appetite! Looking forward to seeing you in 2 weeks! We'll all nap together!

Uncle Bill,
It's good to hear from you, and not about you. Don't worry about the extra hole in the head...I have one too.
As far as napping goes...a recent study concluded that people who nap more live longer. I've decided that is why Grandma will live well into her 100's.
Continue to trudge Uncle Bill, I am praying for you and the rest of the Huber Clan.
Love,
Melissa

Hi Mr. Huber!
Shannon, Noah and I are sending a zillion happy thoughts and prayers your way. So glad you're home. When David sends his comments about the hole in your head just say, "Dave, you could do with a few holes in YOUR head to release some hot air!"
Rest up!
Go Vols!
